Manchester United are reportedly keen on signing Marcus Edwards this month.
The 25-year-old forward currently plays for Sporting Lisbon, but a return to the Premier League could be on the cards for the Englishman.
Edwards is believed to be a reasonable solution to Antony, with the Brazilian struggling to prove his worth in a United shirt. The former Tottenham Hotspur man plays as an inverted winger on the right side. He can also be deployed down the middle and on the left.
United will monitor the situation knowing Edwards’ current deal at Sporting Lisbon will expire in 2026.
According to Football Transfers, United are considering a move for Edwards, even though he has a £30m price tag hanging over his name.
Edwards has 11 goal contributions in 26 matches for Sporting CP this season.
United have struggled this season with a reliance on Rasmus Hojlund, who joined the club in the summer from Atalanta, to score goals. The club is expected to move on Anthony Martial in the summer and all eyes will be on the new recruitment team led by INEOS.
The Reds are dealing with Financial Fair Player constraints which makes it difficult for the club to make any permanent signings in January. Last summer we signed Wout Weghorst and Marcel Sabitzer on temporary deals.
Bayern Munich forward Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting is another name being considered for a loan deal.
