Manchester United watched their Champions League hopes slip even further out of their grasp after last night’s dismal showing at the Gtech Community Stadium.
Brentford had lost five of their last six matches heading into Saturday’s clash with the Red Devils yet went on to thoroughly dominate them in every area throughout the 90 minutes.
Thomas Frank’s relentless Bees fired 31 shots towards Andre Onana, four of which hit the woodwork, while five were stopped by the Cameroonian. This is two more than Brentford have registered in any match for at least seven years.
They also recorded a remarkable 85 touches in United’s box – the most of any team in a Premier League match across the last three seasons.
Had they have won the match, nobody – not even United fans – could’ve disputed that Brentford didn’t deserve it.
United’s uphill battle continues
Sky Sports shared another concerning statistic today, showcasing that the Old Trafford outfit have faced the most shots in the league this calendar year (197), which is more than any club in the bottom three.

Alas, the Reds’ tumultuous campaign continues with yet another blip in Ten Hag’s project.
Dropping points after Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur won their respective games leaves United eight points away from fifth place and 11 points adrift of the top four.
