Inter Milan are having another strong season under Simone Inzaghi and it comes as no surprise that Manchester United are being linked with a move for the Italian’s star midfielder Nicolo Barella.
Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, along with his Ineos Sports group, are reportedly planning a huge summer clear out to make room for new recruits in the transfer window.
One position that will need investment is Erik ten Hag’s midfield. Casemiro has struggled for form this season and the squad has room for a new defensive midfield to play alongside Kobbie Mainoo and Bruno Fernandes next season.
Another midfielder that could be moved on is Christian Eriksen, while Sofyan Amrabat is expected to return to Fiorentina at the end of his season-long loan deal.
In turn, United need to start looking at the market for upgrades in the midfield department.
Spanish publication Fichajes claims Inter Milan\s Nicolo Barella could be an option with the player’s current deal expiring in 2026. The Serie A leaders are trying to convince Barella to sign a new two-year contract, although nothing has been solved yet.
Newcastle and Liverpool are also said to be interested in Barella.
The 27-year-old has made 35 appearances across all competitions this season, scoring two goals and registering a further five assits. Barella racked up better numbers last season when he made 19 goal contributions in 52 games.
Barella has a transfer valuation of €75m, as per Transfermarkt.
