Sunderland interested in Amad Diallo - again

Sunderland have made a move to re-sign Amad Diallo on loan from Manchester United, according to The Mirror.

The winger spent last season on loan with the Wearsiders and scored 14 goals in 40 games for the club.

While injury curtailed the first half of the season, it remains to be seen if Erik ten Hag will look to keep him around at Old Trafford.

Sunderland's sporting director Kristjaan Speakman has previously spoken about a move for Diallo, saying: "The situation is clear.

"We have a positive relationship with the boy, his people and Manchester United. Can he improve us? Yes. Have we enquired? Yes. Have we kept in contact with him? Yes. My head would be on a stake if not!

"Even if he became available we might not get him. I regard him as a tier one player. He is a tier one player. We would be lucky if we got him on loan again. The level he can play at. He loved his time here. He loved the players and staff."

Where's there a Wil

Andy Goldstein says he is surprised that Manchester United aren't tempted by a move for Callum Wilson this month.

The Newcastle man is in the final 18 months of his contract and could be available for between £18million and £20million in the final days of the transfer window.

Speaking on talkSPORT Drive, Darren Bent said: "For £20million you’d think a lot of people would be in for him, right?”"

“I’d take him at Man United, for £20million," Goldstein replied.

"Anthony Martial is out for 10 weeks and his contract’s not going to be renewed, so he’s gone. What an unbelievable player we’d have."

Martial latest

In case you missed it yesterday, Manchester United are not expecting to make any major signings this month despite Anthony Martial's injury lay-off.

Martial has been ruled out for around ten weeks after undergoing groin surgery, leaving manager Erik ten Hag short of striking options.

The Frenchman has been told his contract will not be renewed when it expires in the summer, ending a nine-year stay at Old Trafford.

A potential move for Karim Benzema has already been ruled out by talkSPORT sources.

Zirkzee update

Manchester United and Arsenal have both been linked to Joshua Zirkzee during this transfer window.

Neither side have made an approach though, with a move in the summer seeming more likely.

There have also been reports claiming that the Bologna striker has a release clause of £34million.

Ben Jacobs has given an update on the situation, writing: “Arsenal and Man United are both tracking the Dutch forward with a view to the summer.

“There remains some confusion over Zirkzee’s summer release clause, but Bologna director Marco Di Vaio insists it is ‘only valid for Bayern.’

Goalkeeper set for loan

Manchester United goalkeeper Radek Vitek is set to join Accrington Stanley on loan, according to Manchester Evening News.

The 20-year-old shot stopper has agreed to join the League Two side for the remainder of the season.

Vitek's deal will not include an option to buy in the summer.

The move is expected to go through before the weekend.

Old Trafford fire sale

Mason Greenwood is set to be one of a list of players who are set to be sold by Manchester United as Sir Jim Ratcliffe looks to kick off his overhaul of the club.

Along with transforming the Premier League giants off the pitch, the British billionaire is planning wholesale changes to the squad and wants to cash in on a host of unwanted stars.

Greenwood could be one of United's biggest sales, with the 22-year-old striker impressing during his loan spell at Getafe, with other LaLiga clubs - including Barcelona, according to reports - keeping tabs on him.

Atletico Madrid and Valencia have also been linked with an interest in the United academy graduate, who the club said will not play for them again after an internal investigation into the player after charges of attempted rape were dropped.

But Greenwood isn't the only young player United could offload, with Scott McTominay, Hannibal Mejbri and Alvaro Fernandez others who could leave.

According to The I, Ratcliffe is hoping to raise around £100million from player sales from their academy alone, a fee which could rise to beyond £200m with Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Casemiro, Jadon Sancho and Antony also possible outgoings.

Onana's United struggles

talkSPORT's Darren Bent has ranked Andre Onana at a 6/10 for his time at Manchester United so far.

Speaking on Drive yesterday evening, Bent said: "He's good with his feet.

"But I do think it's got something to do with the big club he's playing for in Manchester United.

"If you give him time, you'd hope he'd be better. It's his first season in the Premier League.

"He has made mistakes you can't hide that fact. There's been goals that have gone in and you think 'he should've done better there'.

"But he's part of a whole transition at Man United. They are not the finished article. They're not quite sure what they're doing.

"You could sit here and say you've got to get rid of him but you've got to give players time."

McTominay contract plans

Manchester United want to tie Scott McTominay down to a new long-term deal at Old Trafford, according to The Sun.

Despite Erik ten Hag previously being keen to move on the Scotsman, United are now aiming to keep him at the club with the midfielder winning over his boss.

McTominay's current contract expires next summer, meaning the Red Devils are running out of time to receive a substantial fee for him.

If the 27-year-old is to be considered a key player, he will be happy to sign a new deal, however, if that's not the case, there is no guarantee that he will accept.

Antony's agent talks

Antony has been linked to a move away from Manchester United this month after struggling so far this season.

However, his agent Junior Pedroso has insisted that United haven't suggested that they want to get rid of him.

“Manchester has so far not communicated any interest in transferring him in either the January or summer window,” Pedroso told United in Focus.

“Antony is focused on these four months of the season so he can improve his performance, knowing that he needs to score goals and assists.

"This is his focus. Today our head is on Manchester United. He knows very well that he needs to score, there’s no point in just playing good games, he has to score goals and provide assists.

"He is very coherent about this. He will come back different, his head has become a little key and certainly in these four months he will show much more than he showed this season.”

The end for Martial?

Could Anthony Martial have played his last game for Manchester United?

Man United have announced that Martial has undergone successful surgery on a groin issue, meaning he will be out of action for 10 weeks.

His recovery will last until April and with the season ending a month later, he may not be fit to feature again this camaign.

The Frenchman is expected to leave in the summer with his contract set to expire, so there is a chance he won't play for United again.

Neville approves new CEO

Gary Neville has given his thoughts on Manchester United employing Omar Berrada as their new Chief Executive Officer.

"What I did like about it, is that it was almost stealth, in the sense it wasn't a massive build-up over a few months that dragged out. It just happened quickly. I like that about it," Neville told Sky Sports.

"That triangle is critical in a football club - CEO, sporting director, head of recruitment - Man Utd operated without a sporting director for 10 years, which is just staggering. It's one of the problems the Glazer family have created by not putting that position in place.

"This looks like the start of what should be a much more serious football project at the club, whereby the football side gets treated equally to the business side.

"He obviously has business background, he's the CEO, he's not going to be picking the team, but he has worked in the football side of the business, and the commercial side.

"There's a lot to do, and it's a big ask, and who knows if it's going to be ultimately successful. I wouldn't put too much pressure on him too quickly, but there are some easy wins."

Duo eyed by Al Nassr

Casemiro has emerged as a target for Saudi Arabia giants Al Nassr, talkSPORT understands.

Cristiano Ronaldo's side are also keen on Aaron Wan-Bissaka as they look to add a new full-back to their ranks.

However, talkSPORT sources have indicated United do not plan to lose Wan-Bissaka in the January transfer window, with the defender making 13 starts this season.

And while Al Nassr chiefs have spoken to intermediaries about Brazilian midfielder Casemiro, it's understood any move for the 31-year-old would more likely take place in the summer.

Casemiro became a key player for United following his £70million arrival from Real Madrid in August 2022, making 63 appearances and contributing 11 goals and seven assists.

But his form has declined this term, and it has been suggested the Red Devils will cash in for the right offer in the summer when he'll have two years remaining on his contract.
