Manchester United view Aaron Wan-Bissaka as a valuable member of the squad going forward and have rejected Inter Milan’s offer to swap the right-back for Denzel Dumfries.

Inter are actively seeking to offload first-team players as they look to adhere to Financial Fair Play regulations in Serie A and Dumfries, 27, could be on his way out of the San Siro, despite nailing down a spot in Simone Inzaghi’s side this term.

Dumfries is out of contract in 2025 and talks over a new deal have stalled in recent weeks, which has forced Inter to consider cashing in on the Netherlands full-back.

According to The Sun, Inter offered Dumfries to United in exchange for Wan-Bissaka. However, Erik ten Hag is determined to keep hold of the ex-Crystal Palace man and the Italians’ offer was swiftly turned down.

Earlier this month, Ten Hag confirmed that the Red Devils had activated an option in Wan-Bissaka’s contract to tie the 26-year-old to the club until 2025.

‘We triggered the options on Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Victor Lindelof and Hannibal Mejbri,’ the United head coach told reporters.

‘We are talking with Raphael Varane and with Anthony Martial. I think that is an internal discussion between the club and the players.’

Wan-Bissaka completed a £45million move to United back in 2019 and has since played under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Ralf Rangnick and Ten Hag, struggling to live up to his hefty price tag across his four-and-a-half-year stay in the north-west.

At the start of this season, Wan-Bissaka missed 10 games for United due to a niggling hamstring injury but the former England Under-21 international has returned to the fold to start the club’s last five matches in all competitions.

Recent reports indicated Wan-Bissaka could be deemed surplus to requirements in Manchester, with the club keen to overhaul their defence in the summer transfer window, but it appears the defender’s future has now been cleared up.

The Old Trafford giants continue to be linked with Sacha Boey as they look to bring in competition for Wan-Bissaka at right-back, but Galatasaray have no interest in parting with the Frenchman before the January deadline.

It’s understood United are prioritising strengthening up front, with summer signing Rasmus Hojlund managing just two goals in 16 top-flight appearances since arriving from Atalanta.

Meanwhile, there remains uncertainty surrounding Antony Martial’s future, despite the forward’s agent denying reports that he had been forced to train alone.

‘What is said about him is completely false. He was not excluded from the group and he has no problem with [Erik ten Hag],’ Phillipe Lamboley told Sky Sports.

‘Anthony has been in Manchester for nine seasons and if he was not a great professional then he would not have been at the club for so long.

‘He is simply going to undergo a small operation on his adductors, which he should have done for a while and which did not allow him to be 100 per cent, so he will do it now.’
