Viktor Gyokeres has been linked with Manchester United and several other top European clubs.

The appointment of Ruben Amorim as Manchester United’s head coach has resulted in multiple Sporting CP players being linked with a move to Old Trafford.

Sporting CP appears to be the flavour of the month at United. We’ve taken their manager, and we’re being linked with their best players, such as Viktor Gyokeres and Geovany Quanda.

United made five signings in the summer as they looked to support Erik ten Hag but a poor start to the season led to the Dutchman being sacked.

Amorim will hope to add to his squad in future transfer windows, although reports elsewhere suggest he will work with a restricted budget due to previous spending sprees under Ten Hag.

A smaller transfer budget limits Sporting’s chances of pulling the wool over United’s eyes, but it could also see us miss out on targets such as Gyokeres, who is currently the top goalscorer in Europe after scoring a hat-trick against Man City in the Champions League.

Viktor Gyokeres would be an amazing signing

Speaking to BonusCodeBets.co.uk, as cited by the Manchester Evening News, Parker urged United to splash the cash to sign Gyokeres from Sporting.

The former United full-back said: “I think it would be amazing if Man United can sign Gyokeres.

“In my opinion, it would be one of the best possible signings and maybe one of the best signings in recent times in the Premier League. He knows how Amorim wants to play and vice versa.

“He would be the perfect addition, and also add some competition to Højlund who really needs it, because he hasn’t shown enough yet. Gyokeres would be a top striker in the Premier League.”

While we would love to see Gyokeres in a United shirt, it remains to be seen if the club are willing to spend over £60m on another striker even though it’s a position we need to strengthen in.

Joshua Zirkzee arrived a few months ago and Rasmus Hojlund has lots of potential, despite not being the final product.
