Manchester United begin their Europa League campaign on Wednesday night as they take on Eredivisie side FC Twente at Old Trafford.
It’s a tie that will see Erik ten Hag come up against his former club. The Dutchman grew up supporting FC Twente and admitted prior to the meeting that he can’t watch their games with an analytical eye due to emotional attachment.
Ten Hag also enjoyed three stints witch the Dutch club during his playing days and then began his coaching career with their academy, working under Steve McClaren during his managerial spell in 2012.
Aa part of the new format for UEFA competitions, exclusive weeks have been handed to the various tournaments. Last week, there was Champions League football, with no Europa League or Conference League games played.
That explains why United have been given a Wednesday night fixture this week before anyone asks.
The game kicks off at 8:00pm at Old Trafford and TNT Sports hold the broadcasting rights. You can watch the match live on TNT Sports 1 and TNT Sports Ultimate.
