Manchester United are willing to listen to offers for Harry Maguire.

The England centre-back was one of United’s most reliable defenders last season, making 31 appearances across all competitions, but he missed the end of the season.

That meant Maguire missed the FA Cup final win over Man City and the European Championship.

According to talkSPORT, United are willing to cash in on Maguire for the second summer in a row.

The England international attracted interest from West Ham this time last year before the move collapsed after he refused to leave United. It remains to be seen if the Hammers are still interested in Maguire after hiring a new manager this summer.

Maguire’s place in the team was in real doubt but injuries meant he became a regular when fit. United were without Lisandro Martinez for most of the season, while Raphael Varane had too many spells in the treatment room.

However, Varane has since left United and is now a free agent. Maguire could join him with the Reds prioritising the signing of a new centre-back.

Bayern Munich’s Matthijs de Ligt has become a top target, with Everton pricing Jarrad Branthwaite out of a summer move to Old Trafford. Reports this afternoon suggest the Netherlands international is willing to take a pay cut to join United.

Maguire is in the final year of his contract, so it makes sense that United are welcoming offers for his signature. If we don’t find a buyer, we risk losing him on a free transfer next summer. That won’t sit well with Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who has hiring key personnel to rectify the mistakes United have been making for years in the transfer market.

Gareth Southgate did not take Maguire to Euro 2024 due to injury, but that doesn’t explain why he brought Luke Shaw… He is working his way back to full fitness but it remains to be seen where he will be playing his football next season.
