Cena announced plans for his in-ring retirement this week. The wrestling world has been reflecting on what he meant to the business. Mansoor recently shared that a match involving Cena was the reason he became a professional wrestler.
The match that Mansoor was talking about was the 2013 SummerSlam main event. The WWE Champion at that time, John Cena put his title on the line against Daniel Bryan (Bryan Danielson). The Special Guest Referee of the match was Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque. Both veterans battled each other for almost half an hour. Finally, Danielson managed to hit his Running Knees signature move and pinned Cena for the win.
Bryan was crowned the new WWE World Champion. But his celebrations did not last long as the then, Mr. Money In The Bank, Randy Orton showed up and cashed in his contract. Then, Triple H turned on Danielson, hit the Pedigree, and helped Randy Orton become the new WWE World Champion.
