Manchester United are considering signing Sporting CP star Morten Hjulmand to strengthen their midfield ahead of the new season.

The Red Devils have placed the 24-year-old on their summer target list, Football Transfers report. Monaco star Youssouf Fofana is also an option for the Old Trafford club and it was recently suggested that the Ligue 1 club are willing to sell him during the current transfer window as he wants to leave.

Manchester United have been linked with a move for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte, who is reportedly available for around £59m. The Uruguayan has reportedly agreed personal terms with the Red Devils, but they are yet to reach an agreement with the French champions.

United forget Ugarte

Reports have also indicated that United are looking for a left-back, with Tyrell Malacia still struggling after being left out of the pre-season tour of the United States and missing the entirety of last season. Former Chelsea and Barcelona defender Marcos Alonso is on the list of targets for the position.

Erik ten Hag and his Manchester United squad are on their way to the United States where they will play pre-season friendlies against Arsenal, Real Betis and Liverpool. Upon their return, they will face Manchester City in the Community Shield on August 10.
