Manchester United’s Deadline Day signing Manuel Ugarte has chosen the new number that he will wear for the Red Devils.
Manchester United secured the services of Manuel Ugarte after agreeing on a deal with Paris Saint Germain. The Red Devils will pay an initial £42 million with the fee reportedly rising to £50.5 million with performance-related add-ons.
The new Uruguayan midfielder is unavailable for this afternoon’s clash against Liverpool because he was not registered in time before the noon Premier League deadline on Friday.
However, it is understood that it was not a huge concern for Erik ten Hag and his staff because of the lack of football that Ugarte had in pre-season.
The new signing will bring a new dynamic to the midfield at Old Trafford and is an exciting addition to Ten Hag’s side.
Manuel Ugarte kit number revealed as number 25
Many of the key Manchester United kit numbers are already occupied limiting the options available to the new addition.
Number 16 previously worn by the likes of Michael Carrick and Roy Keane is currently worn by Amad Diallo, with 18 famously worn by Paul Scholes currently worn by Casemiro.
Ugarte’s number at PSG was the number four shirt but new summer signing Matthijs de Ligt has claimed that shirt.
The former Sporting Lisbon star has decided to don the number 25 shirt for the Red Devils.
The 25 shirt had become available after the Deadline Day departure of Jadon Sancho to Chelsea.
The number 25 shirt at Old Trafford has previously been worn by the likes of Quinton Fortune and Antonio Valencia.
