Fasten your seatbelts.
Manchester United are in the process on completing the signing of Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain.
A report from Uruguayan outlet El Pais claims a deal for Ugarte is expected to be completed in the next day or so.
It’s claimed the negotiations between Erik ten Hag’s side and PSG are ‘practically closed’.
The report adds the player will leave the Paris club for Manchester United in the ‘next few hours’. El País (as cited by Sport Witness) say there are a few small details that need to be ironed out.
United have been chasing Ugarte all summer and it is believed that personal terms with verbally agreed some time ago.
A separate report from the Manchester Evening News suggests Ugarte’s arrival might depend on the sale of Scott McTominay, with a deal worth around £25m expected to be agreed before Friday’s deadline.
United expect one new arrival before the transfer window shuts and it looks like that will be Uruguay international Ugarte.
The defensive midfielder is set to bolster Erik ten Hag’s midfield and he will be expected to add more protection to the back four than what Casemiro has managed over the past year.
Another midfielder could leave with Hannibal Mejbri attracting interest from Burnley following Sander Berge’s switch to Fulham. There is just one year remaining on the 21-year-old’s contract and he isn’t part of Ten Hag’s plans.
