England manager Gareth Southgate has made a strong decision regarding Marcus Rashford.

It’s official, Marcus Rashford will not participate in Euro 2024 with England. Gareth Southgate unveiled a pre-list of 33 players this Tuesday, and the Manchester United striker is not one of them.

This decision is undoubtedly explained by Rashford’s disappointing season, both on a sporting and extra-sporting level. On the pitch, he has only 8 goals and 5 assists in 42 appearances. Off the field, he also made headlines after missing a training session while being spotted at a nightclub the same week.

A new generation

In addition to the child from Manchester, other executives will be missing: Jordan Henderson and Raheem Sterling. The less accustomed to the selection like Jadon Sancho, Reece James, and Ben Chilwell were also excluded from the list.

However, this situation could open the door to young companies. Cole Palmer, James Trafford, Jarrad Branthwaite, Adam Wharton, Jarell Quansah, and Kobbie Mainoo are on the pre-list and could have their first international experience with the Three Lions.
