EXCLUSIVE: Academy Award nominees Margot Robbie and Colin Farrell are attached to star in A Big Bold Beautiful Journey, with Imperative Entertainment produing. Pachinko director Kogonada will helm the pic from an original script by The Menu scribe Seth Reiss. 30West is financing the film.
Imperative Entertainment’s Dan Friedkin, Bradley Thomas, and Ryan Friedkin will produce the feature, along with Reiss and Youree Henley.Executive Producers include Kogonada, Ilene Feldman and Original Films’ Ori Eisen.
Plot details are under wraps, but the film is described as an imaginative tale of two strangers and the unbelievable journey that connects them. The film will shoot this spring in California. CAA Media Finance and 30WEST represent the film’s worldwide distribution rights.
Robbie is having as good a year as any movie star in Hollywood after her smash hit Barbie, which she starred and also produced throgh her LuckyChap banner, broke numerous box-office records raking in $1.4 billion at the global box-office. The film recently landed eight Oscar nominations including one Best Picture. Robbie had her pick of scripts to choose from following massive success of Barbie and recent weeks had landed on Big Bold Beautiful Journey as her next film.
As for Farrell and Kogonada, this film marks a reunion for the two after working together on the drama After Yang, which premiered at last years Sundance Film Festival. Next up for Farrell is the highly-anticipated Apple series Sugar, which premieres on Apple TV+ this April.
Robbie is repped by CAA, Entertainment 360, and attorney Jeff Bernstein, Aran Michael Management and Narrative. Farrell is repped by CAA, managers Ilene Feldman and Claudine Farrell, attorney Steve Warren, and Kovert Creative. Kogonada is repped by WME, Ilene Feldman Management, attorneys Daniel Passman and Tara Kole.
Imperative Entertainment most recently was behind the ten-time Oscar-nominated epic film Killers of the Flower Moon, which the company developed and produced over the past seven years, the Emmy-nominated limited series Black Bird, and the Palme d’Or-winning film Triangle of Sadness. Upcoming projects include Apple’s new anticipated drama series Moth to Flame, starring Taron Egerton and the feature film The Wager, which will be directed by Martin Scorsese and star Leonardo DiCaprio.
