EXCLUSIVE: Academy Award nominee Maria Bakalova (Borat Subsequent Moviefilm) and Zach Cherry (Severance) swipe right on the Jason James (Entanglement, Exile) comedy feature All Night Wrong.
From screenwriter Jason Filiatrault (Entanglement), Bakalova and Cherry lead the cast as Gary, a cowardly husband, and Ell, a heartbroken widow, who meet through a Tinder hookup only to end up with a killer’s car, a dead body and $40,000 in cash. In a whirlwind of bad decisions and dangerous encounters, Gary and Ell’s night spirals into a chaotic journey filled with fights, mystery and life-changing consequences.
Pre-production is set to begin this fall in the Columbia Valley region of British Columbia.
“All Night Wrong is about two heartbroken individuals who meet online for all the wrong reasons but end up discovering something about each other—and themselves—over the course of one chaotic night. Maria and Zach are the dynamic duo we didn’t know we needed. I can’t wait to take this adventure with them,” shared James.
The film is a Canada-UK co-production, with Amber Ripley of Goodbye Productions, Jason James of Resonance Films leading the Canadian team, and Richard Kondal of Big Safari Productions for the UK. Sara Shaak of Anamorphic Media serves as executive producer overseeing finance. Angela Demo (Cha Cha Real Smooth) is the casting director and executive producer.
Bakalova is best known for her breakout role in Borat Subsequent Moviefilm (2020) opposite Sacha Baron Cohen. She followed that up with Bodies Bodies Bodies, The Honeymoon, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. and Unfrosted. Up next, she will star as Ivanka Trump in the Ali Abbasi-directed feature The Apprentice opposite Sebastian Stan and Jeremy Strong. She is repped by CAA, Insight Management, Brookside Artist Management and Yorn, Levine, Barnes, Krintzman.
Cherry starred as “Dylan George” in Season 2 of the Apple TV+ series Severance. Additional TV credits include Prime Video’s Fallout, Fox’s Duncanville and TBS’s The Last O.G. Up next, Cherry has hosting duties on The Great American Baking Show. His film appearances also include Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Isn’t It Romantic, The Big Sick and Spider-Man: Homecoming. Cherry is repped by CAA, Edna Cowan Management, and Felker Toczek Suddleson.
