The First Lady of Professional Wrestling Maria Kanellis is currently working as part of the Ring of Honor roster. She recently shared that she hopes the promotion can become better and reconnect with the audience once again.

While speaking on the Gabby AF podcast, Maria Kanellis mentioned that she hopes after All In London, Ring of Honor can reconnect with the audience and figure out where it fits in the world of professional wrestling.

“There’s a lot of wrestling out there right now. I think with where it’s positioned and how it’s positioned, it makes it really tough. I’m hopeful that after Wembley, Ring of Honor’s able to get a little bit of a footing again,” Maria Kanellis explained. “Maybe we can continue working on how to market it and how to reconnect with our audience and where does Ring of Honor fit in this world of wrestling right now.

“And I think that’s the biggest thing is where is its niche. Ideally, for me, and you know, throw this in the atmosphere, it really doesn’t matter but, for me, I feel like Ring of Honor should be the place where young talent comes and they grow and I think that it should be its own thing, it should be a place where it’s almost a camp of, what do ya got? And see it, you know? And those combines, kind of in that same vein of make it that, to where you’re gonna challenge ‘em the whole weekend. Are you good enough? And then spend some time there and if you’re good enough, you get to go to AEW. But, again, I don’t write the checks, I don’t make the rules.” [H/T POST Wrestling]

Maria Kanellis on pairing up with Griff Garrison and Cole Carter

During the same interview, Kanellis shared that AEW President Tony Khan was the one who made the decision to pair the First Lady of Professional Wrestling with Griff Garrison and Cole Carter. Kanellis felt it was brilliant from Tony Khan’s point.

“It was Tony (Khan’s idea to pair me with Griff Garrison & Cole Karter). For sure, and then of course, you start putting your own spin on it and I think for Tony, it was brilliant of him because it’s a way for me to give along my experience and my knowledge without having to be in the ring. So it’s like, it’s brilliant as far as Tony putting me with younger people because then I can constantly be there and when we’re doing promos or being in the ring or whatever, I’m there to assist and to help. But yeah, we definitely kind of ran with it a little bit and more to come now that MxM (Collection) is around. They definitely need a manager so, I’m sure I’m gonna keep pushing for that,” Maria Kanellis said.
