Football pundit Mark Lawrenson believes that Manchester United have “no chance” of making the top four.
We may as well give up on it then, shall we?
Lawrenson was speaking to Paddy Power, as cited by The Sun, when he said: “Manchester United have no chance of finishing in the top four.
“I just don’t trust them. They’re more than capabale of having a bad performance and not winning.
“They’re on a good run of form but you look at Manchester United and it’s really touch and go whether they make a European spot because I don’t trust them.
“The top managers stand on the touchline before the game and look at their team and go ‘yeah, I trust us to deal with any problem on the pitch’ and I don’t have that with United.”
It will be crucial for United’s chances to beat Villa away from home this weekend. The Villains haven’t had the best of runs in recent weeks, having picked up just one victory from their last five games across competitions.
Lawrenson is tipping United to come away with the win on Sunday.
“Manchester United have, just maybe, started to pick up a bit. There’s that picture of the three lads who scored against West Ham and they might be the ones to drive them forward.
“I think Manchester United might win this. Football’s always like this, we’ve been raving about Aston Villa all season and now they’re just having a slump and you wonder what’s happened to them. Aston Villa 1-2 Manchester United.”
