The Marvel Cinematic Universe‘s original Avengers have assembled once again for a new project – to record a Lakota dub of their 2012 movie The Avengers. Marvel announced the project in a video on Friday (July 5) and shared some behind-the-scenes glimpses at the cast, including Mark Ruffalo, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson and Chris Evans, in the studio. Mark, who helped organize the project, explained how it all came together. Watch the video to learn more about the Lakota dub of The Avengers… “This project came out of my relationship with the Lakota people,” Mark explained in the video. He continued, saying, “Just getting everyone together on the same page is probably the most difficult thing, but everyone was into it.” Mark added that the project was inspired by attempts to revitalize the Lakota language, which was almost lost after the people were forbidden to speak it. The project took more than 15 months to complete. According to Marvel, they brought on a cast of 62 native speakers to help fill out the cast of supporting characters. Chris Hemsworth and Jeremy Renner were not shown in the video. However, it was implied that all six of the original Avengers worked together on the dub.
