Mathys Tel’s agent has fuelled speculation linking Mathys Tel with a stunning deadline-day move to Tottenham.
Manchester United are understood to have seen two separate offers knocked back for Bayern Munich’s Tel, 19, while Arsenal have also been exploring a possible deal in the final few hours of the January transfer window.
But according to Sky Deutschland’s Florian Plettenberg, the France Under-21 international – who has made just two league starts for Bayern this season – is set to complete a temporary switch to Spurs.
While Tel initially turned down a proposed £50.2million move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium earlier in the window, it appears the youngster has had a change of heart, which will come as a huge relief to Ange Postecoglou.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that Tel has agreed to join Spurs on loan until June, with no option to buy included in the deal. He becomes Tottenham’s third piece of business this January following deals for Kevin Danso and Luka Vuskovic.
Just moments before news of Tel’s U-turn was reported, the player’s representative Gadiri Camara shared a picture on his Instagram page showing him on an airplane with his client along with an egg timer emoji.
According to Sky Sports News, the flight is indeed heading for London and official confirmation of Tel’s arrival is expected imminently. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano shared a separate photograph of the pair on board the private jet.
