Bayern Munich starlet Mathys Tel will consider a move to Manchester United this summer after being made a top target by the Premier League side.

The 18-year-old forward joined Bayern from Rennes for a fee of £24million including bonuses and scored against United in their Champions League group stage clash in September.

He is among the options United are considering this summer as they look to bring in another striker, having already made contact with the German club over a possible deal.

It has previously been reported Tel is aware of interest from the Premier League but has not given hope of becoming a first-choice player at the Allianz Arena.

The France Under-21 international has managed just 735 minutes of action this season with just three starting appearances in all competitions, sat behind Harry Kane and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting in Thomas Tuchel’s pecking order.

It was announced on Wednesday Tuchel will leave the German giants this summer with Bayern looking set to miss out on the title for the first time in 13 years, currently sat eight points behind Bayer Leverkusen.

While Tel has previously blocked attempts from clubs to lure him away, Sport Bild now report that stance has changed with the Frenchman now seriously considering a move this summer with the Premier League an appealing option.

His lack of game time in Bavaria is a driving factor behind that decision with his advisor Gadiri Camara strongly hinting they will consider leaving Bayern at the end of the season.

‘Sometimes you just have to have the feeling that you are on the same path,’ he said.

‘We’ll see very soon, but I’m confident. But if not, we have to consider all options because Mathys knows that he is valuable and will be a top player.’

Arsenal are also monitoring Tel’s situation, along with Paris Saint-Germain.

This week, Sky Germany reported there will be wholesale changed made to the Bayern Munich squad with only four players in Kane, Jamal Musiala, Manuel Neuer and Thomas Muller viewed as ‘untouchable’.

Bayern have made Bayer Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso their top target to succeed Tuchel with the Spaniard said to be favouring a stay in Germany over Liverpool, who want him to replace Jurgen Klopp.

United meanwhile are likely to make signing a new striker a top priority this summer. The in-form Rasmus Hojlund is their only natural option at centre forward with Anthony Martial, currently ruled out with a groin injury, set to leave when his contract expires at the end of the season.AC
