Matt Cardona is always ready if his phone rings, but he’s focused on creating his own path and legacy.

Matt Cardona recently sparked some buzz when he said that he has not received an offer from WWE or AEW, despite his successful post-WWE run that dates back to 2020.

Speaking with Denise Salcedo of Instinct Culture, Cardona was asked to elaborate on his comments.

“I can only control what I can control. I’m not gonna lie to the people, I’m not gonna pretend there’s been all these offers,” Matt Cardona said. “As a matter of fact, I haven’t been offered anything from WWE or AEW, and it is what it is. Maybe that will change one day, but for now, I just need to focus on being me. I need to focus on reinventing myself again, I need to focus on being the top guy on the indies for another year, I gotta focus on maybe changing the indies, elevating other people.

“I can’t harp on what’s not going on, I have to focus and put all my focus on just me and create my own path and create my own legacy, and I feel like the past four years. But it’s almost another year. It’s almost 2025, so the pressure’s on to top myself, and it’s a good pressure, I love the pressure.”

Matt Cardona: I’m Always Ready

Cardona went on to reiterate that he was always ready, and he would have a conversation if his phone rang. However, he also said that he could not wait by the phone.

“But listen, I’m always ready. The phone rings right now, I’ll have a conversation,” Matt Cardona said. “But I can’t just be waiting by the phone. I can’t sit here, ‘Please call.’ I can’t do that. That’s not how I want to live, and that’s not how I want to have my career go. I want to do my own thing, be my own boss, have a lot of fun, make a lot of money. If the call comes, I’m always ready.
