Game Changer Wrestling General Manager Matt Cardona wants to make a big splash in free agency this summer.
This year, the world of free agency in professional wrestling has been pretty crazy thus far. And while WWE and AEW are in a constant battle for top talents, other companies are looking to make their mark as well.
Matt Cardona was a recent guest on Fightful’s In The Weeds. When asked about the possibility of bringing free agents like Becky Lynch and Chad Gable into GCW, Cardona said he’d love to have them, but they probably can’t afford them.
“I would love to have Becky Lynch in GCW. Chad Gable in GCW. Oh my God. Unbelievable. Could we afford them? Probably not,” Matt Cardona admitted. “They’d have to lower their rate just a little bit. The fantasy booking of what we could do there? SDL [Steph De Lander] vs. Becky Lynch. Chad Gable against Blake Christian or Joey Janela.
“If their contracts expire before Sunday, if Chad wants to lower his rate, he can be in the gauntlet. Becky can enter the gauntlet. Anyone could enter the gauntlet. They’d have to lower their rate a lot. We don’t have that TKO money, we don’t have that TK money, either. We do what we can.” [H/T: Fightful]
