Matt Riddle has buried the hatchet with Goldberg.
Major League Wrestling‘s Matt Riddle was a recent guest on Rasslin’. When asked if he would be interested in being Goldberg’s last match in 2025, Riddle said he doesn’t believe that’s something Goldberg would be interested in.
“Well, maybe,” Matt Riddle said. “I don’t think he wants to step up to the plate if we’re keeping it real.”
When asked if the two men ever settled their differences, Riddle revealed the two had a long talk coming back from a WWE event in Saudi Arabia.
“Me and Bill, we’ve talked. We were actually on a flight from Saudi. We were on a Saudi show, like one of the Crown Jewels and we were flying back, and we had some cocktails and we had some discussion. I don’t think there’s any bad blood. I think he has more of an understanding of where I was coming from.
“And I definitely have an understanding of where he’s coming from and, like, why he finds what I say disrespectful and things like that. I completely understand. I don’t mean it that way for professional wrestlers, I’m just spitting facts and I can back it up. And this is just what it is.
“And I had other people in WWE took that as disrespect, but it’s like, dude, if you fought in the UFC and then you’re now in the WWE, what am I supposed to just forget my whole career? Like, no dude, I can stretch like 98% of them.
Riddle would go on to stress that when he’s talking trash, he’s just trying to sell a fight. He’s not doing it to purposely ruffle feathers.
“But these guys, especially, like, say a Bill Goldberg, a guy like me talks that trash. They know my background, and then they kind of get upset,” Matt Riddle said. “Oh, I’ve been doing this for years. Dude, I’m just talking shit. It’s the same thing in fighting, though. Like people talk shit in fighting, and half the time, they’re just spitting shit to get ticket sales. And that’s what you do.
“And not saying you don’t mean some of it or you’re having fun, and part of it is the more real you can make it even with fighting or be it pro wrestling like, say, me and Seth when I was going through a divorce, and then Seth called that out. I told him to say that because I knew that would just be like everybody, oh, my God, that’s real. I can’t believe he said that on live TV. Now Matt really wants to kill him. And it just — that’s what we do.”
