Matt Riddle prepares for battle.
Last month, Matt Riddle left Kings of Colosseum as the new Major League Wrestling World Heavyweight Champion. Last week, he successfully tackled his first title defense against Alex Kane and Satoshi Kojima in the three-way at MLW SuperFight. Looking ahead, he now faces an even bigger challenge when he puts his title on the line at MLW Battle Riot VII.
As confirmed by MLW, Riddle will defend the MLW World Heavyweight Championship in the 40-man Battle Riot match at the respective event, which emanates from the Commerce Casino & Hotel in Los Angeles on April 5. Per the rules of Battle Riot, two competitors will kick off the action, with the remaining 38 participants entering every 60 seconds thereafter.
Eliminations can be gained by pinfall, submission, or by throwing a competitor over the top rope, with both their feet touching the floor below. The last competitor standing will earn the MLW World Heavyweight Championship, or in Riddle’s case, remain the champion.
As of this writing, there is no word on which talents will fulfill the other 39 spots in the Battle Riot match. Last year, Riddle won the Battle Riot by last eliminating Sami Callihan. Elsewhere, he also eliminated the likes of Ernest Miller, Bad Dude Tito, and Minoru Suzuki.
