Matthew Broderick & Son James Wilkie Broderick To Guest Star On ‘Elsbeth’ Together

EXCLUSIVE: In his first major role, James Wilkie Broderick, son of acting power couple Matthew Broderick and Sarah Jessica Parker, is set to guest star in an upcoming episode of CBS’ anthology crime series Elsbeth. Tony winner Matthew Broderick will be the Special Guest Star in the episode, which will air in 2025.

In their first time sharing the screen together, Matthew and James Wilkie Broderick will be part of the episode’s main plot line set in the power and money-driven world of college admission consulting.

Matthew Broderick will play Lawrence Grey. When Manhattan’s elite want to make sure their offspring get into the prep school and then college of their choice, Lawrence Grey is the man to call no matter their grades, test scores or personality. Grey’s expertise and connections make him rich and powerful, but when someone threatens his perch, he is driven to murder.

James Wilkie Broderick will play Carl, a top “success trainer” at Lawrence Grey’s company, Outmatch Educational Consulting, who is helping the offspring of Manhattan’s super-rich make it into the Ivy League.

Sam Hoffman is directing the episode, which is slated to begin filming shortly. Being based in New York, Elsbeth frequently features big Broadway names in its episodes, including Broderick’s The Producers stage partner Nathan Lane who guest starred in the Season 2 premiere.

Jonathan Tolins is executive producer/showrunner of the Good Wife offshoot, created and executive produced by Robert and Michelle King. Liz Glotzer also exec produces. Elsbeth airs Thursdays at 10 PM on CBS and streams on Paramount+.

James Wilkie Broderick is a senior at Brown University, where he studies classics and acting. Earlier this year, he had a small part in the Apple TV series Lady in the Lake, headlined by Natalie Portman. He is also active in the New York theater scene and has done a number of short films.
