The Watch List looks at what matches you should be watching, and they are recommended by today’s professional wrestling stars.

WrestleZone recently spoke with Matthew Rehwoldt and Afa Anoa’i Jr., two of the stars of The Last Match musical. The pair were asked to pick a match from pro wrestling history that might highlight the same vibe that The Last Match provides fans.

Matt Rehwoldt: “That’s tough. Because… like you said, this show takes place in that ’80s heyday of wrestling. So you are getting those very bright, neon kind of colors and all that stuff. So I mean, my immediate, like if I were gonna watch someone sit someone down like [Hulk] Hogan and [The Iron] Sheik right? I mean that type — white meat good guy and there’s a very clear-cut hokey bad guy and everything who’s so over the top, and cocky, and arrogant… So that. “But then also —

Afa Jr: “… and with the mix of Miss Elizabeth in there.”

Rehwoldt: “Yeah! Yeah. So I mean, [Hulk Hogan vs. Macho Man at WrestleMania V] might be another good one. You know, The Mega Powers imploding is probably a good kind of vibe with that too. Yeah. But from that era of wrestling, for sure.

Afa Jr: “Absolutely, I’d have to agree.”
