Cole Palmer has been been described as 'fantastic' and an 'amazing talent' as he delivered another masterclass for Chelsea.

The attacking midfielder banged in a double in the 6-1 win over Middlesbrough on Tuesday to fire the Blues into the Carabao Cup final.

He now has 11 goals in all competitions for the west Londoners this season, while also chipping in with seven assists.

There were many who doubted his summer switch to Stamford Bridge which saw him join from Manchester City in a £40million deal.

But he has silenced his doubters, with the 21-year-old scoring more goals this term already than any Chelsea player did last campaign.

Meanwhile only Ollie Watkins [22] boasts more goal contributions among English players in the Premier League this season than Palmer.

And with the stats showing that Palmer is arguably Chelsea's main man and on course to be a cult hero, Pochettino was euphoric in his praise of the England youth international.

Speaking of the player following the match, Pochettino said: "He is a player with an amazing talent.

"It is a player that understands the game. He has the quality and the talent to see the situation and to read the game in another aspect.

"He can play from the right, striker or in behind the striker.

"We try to give him freedom because in this type of game he can find the best position to help the team.

"For me, [the best part] is when he presses and then the intuition to get the ball back. He is still young, but he is doing fantastically for us."

Chelsea left-back Ben Chilwell has also waxed lyrical over the youngster, stating: "He is top. He is so chilled on and off the pitch.

"You can see when he scores it's so nonchalant. It doesn't faze him.

"He is a top guy and a top player and it is important that he continues this.

"This season he has been brilliant and he is so important to us. We have a massive game on Friday and hopefully, he can help us again.

Palmer will be hoping to make another huge impression when Chelsea welcome Aston Villa to the capital on Friday night in the FA Cup fourth round.
