Maven Believes His In-Ring Days Are Over, But He Still Adds Entertainment Value

One of the veterans in the world of professional wrestling is Maven Huffman. He is the winner of the first-ever season of WWE’s Tough Enough. The former WWE Superstar is also famously known for being the ‘rookie’ who eliminated The Undertaker in a Royal Rumble match.

While speaking on the Two Man Power Trip podcast, Maven reflected on his wrestling career and pondered over the idea of returning to the ring.

“At this point in my career, obviously with…almost [being] 50 years old, my wrestling days are over,” Maven said. “But I still think I can add some sort of value to just the entertainment world. And I enjoy it. I enjoy all forms of entertainment at this point. I love hosting. And for me, with the lottery event, it was fun because there were thirteen contestants that had no clue about wrestling.

“But by the end of our time together, we were there for two days…I had people going on my channel and looking it up and being like ‘I can’t wait to watch this on the way home.’ I like reaching out to people that might not be wrestling fans, and then giving them a different perspective on the business I love so much.” [H/T Wrestling INC.]

Despite almost being 50 years old, Maven shared that in the wrestling business, one can never say never. Thus there is a chance for fans to see Maven back inside the squared circle.

“I’ll never say never in this business,” Maven said. “But there would have to be a lot of zeros in the equation, and it would have to be the right circumstance.” [H/T Wrestling INC.]

Maven has a new appreciation for pro wrestling

Maven has wrestled sporadically in recent years, including an appearance for Booker T’s Reality Of Wrestling in March 2024. He’s also competed for GCW, WrestlePro and ISPW, the latter of which reignited his love for the wrestling business.

“It’s actually reignited the love that I have for the business. Because if I was to go out and wrestle, even if it was wrestling just on the weekends, eventually I’m gonna get hurt. The one thing about the human body is the older it gets, it doesn’t get in better shape. You’re just going to get injured quicker. I take two trains to work and two trains home, which that right there is enough to keep me from getting in the ring on a regular basis.

“So, with that said, there’s not that many organizations that would bring in a guy who can work a limited schedule like that. So, I’m very, very thankful that Tommy and ISPW have offered me that. Not to mention, they are 20 minutes from my house usually. The show that we run there is literally 20-25 minutes from my house. So it’s great.”
