Maven hopes WWE will provide more health benefits to their roster in the future.
In a recent video on his YouTube channel, Maven Huffman reacted to the CM Punk interview with his former best friend Colt Cabana. During the interview, Punk shared everything about WWE, including how its health benefits policies are handled.
The former Tough Enough winner mentioned that it was insane to think that wrestlers do not have any big health insurance policy, considering the massive amount of pain and risk the wrestlers invest.
“It is crazy to think what we do, and there’s no health insurance,” Maven said. “Again, there’s an insurance if you get hurt in the ring, but if you get a flu or you have to go for whatever … whatever happens there’s no insurance for that and that’s a crazy thing. That’s something that I’ve never understood.” [H/T Wrestling Inc.]
Maven revealed that CM Punk was once protected by Simon Dean
The former Tough Enough star recently revealed that he was CM Punk’s first-ever opponent on the WWE main roster. During the match, Huffman shared that his team was supposed to win by pinning CM Punk. But in the end, Simon Dean chose to protect Punk and pinned his opponent.
“Right there is exactly where we went against management,” Maven recalled. “The one thing management wanted, they wanted us to get the pinfall victory, the one two three on CM Punk. And for whatever reason, I have no clue; I mean, he wasn’t even a signed talent at the time. But, he already had heat in the company. There were already feathers he had ruffled. I don’t know how, and I don’t know who’s.
“Nova (Simon Dean) saw it different. Nova wanted to give the guy a chance. And Nova made the decision that earlier, when we were going over the match backstage, he said, ‘Once we come in, I’m going to knock you out. Punk, you roll to the floor. Go to the floor; that way we can get the slam, one two three on Simpson.’ I don’t know why Simon wanted to protect Punk. It could have been a favor to Stevie (Steven Richards). Like Stevie asked us earlier in the day. Or he might have seen in Punk what the entire world would come to see years later.”
