Mayor Lays Foundation for Model Crematorium in Uppal
Hyderabad Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi, along with Deputy Mayor Srilatha Shoban Reddy and Zonal Commissioner Hemant Keshav Patil, laid the foundation stone for a model crematorium and graveyard in Uppal on Tuesday. The project, located in Chiluka Nagar ward, is being constructed at an estimated cost of ₹2 crore.

Later in the day, corporator Bannala Geetha Praveen Mudiraj highlighted issues faced by residents of various colonies in Chiluka Nagar. Mayor Vijayalakshmi, accompanied by the Deputy Mayor and officials, reviewed the concerns and instructed the preparation of necessary proposals to address them.

New Development Plans Announced
The Mayor directed officials to develop a Foot over Bridge (FoB) near Pista House and a park on nearby vacant land. She also asked the zonal senior engineer to prepare a report for replacing the open drainage system in Bank Colony with a box drainage system, based on the required estimates. Corporator Mudiraj stressed the importance of expediting the approval of funds for these projects, citing the hardships faced by residents due to industrial stormwater overflow at the Pochamma Temple intersection on Chiluka Nagar’s main road. The Mayor assured residents that she would follow up with the Water Works department to address the issue.

Flood Concerns and Solutions
Residents of Mallikarjuna Nagar Colony raised concerns about flooding caused by water overflowing from Nacharam Lake. In response, the zonal senior engineer was instructed to take immediate measures to reduce the risk of flooding. Similarly, Vijayalakshmi promised to investigate flood-related challenges in Misat Enclave, where residents requested a high bridge to replace the damaged nala crossing.

Park Development in Alakapuri North Colony
The Mayor also announced plans to develop a park in Azampur Alakapuri North Colony, featuring an open gym and a walking track. These initiatives aim to improve the quality of life for residents in the area.
