At 25, Kylian Mbappé has already experienced a lot as a footballer and as a man. But in recent days, the former Bondy man has been going through an incredible storm. In addition to his notable absence during the French team’s last training camp, it is especially his trip to Stockholm in Sweden that is the talk of the town. It all started last Friday when the Swedish publication Aftonbladet revealed that he was in the country’s capital with relatives. We learned that he spent two evenings in a nightclub (the V) which had been privatized for the occasion. The other customers of the nightclub had to leave their phones in an envelope left at the entrance. The Frenchman wanted to remain as discreet as possible, especially since the French team was playing at the same time against Israel in Budapest. But that was without counting on the Swedish press, which revealed all the details of his escapade.
From the restaurant where he ate (Chez Jolie) to the hotel where he slept, nothing escaped local journalists. It is still them, notably those ofExpressenwho revealed on Monday that a rape had taken place in the hotel where KM9 had stayed, without a link being made with the player. A few hours later, several media outlets cited him by name while specifying that he is “reasonably suspicious“. Quickly, those around him reacted and denied it. His lawyer, Maître Marie-Alix Canu Bernard, also spoke yesterday evening in the 20 Hours news on TF1. Wednesday morning, the criminal lawyer gave another layer on the tray of BFM TV.“As we speak, knowing that we have no information on the complaint filed and that we do not even know if it targets Kylian Mbappé – trying to imagine being able to say things about his private life, I find that’s a rare indecency. I understand you’re asking the question but I’m not going to go into detail. The only thing I can tell you is that he has nothing to reproach himself for. The second thing is that we don’t know anything.”
Mbappé’s lawyer gives a good coat of it
She then gave the player’s state of mind again. “Obviously. He cannot imagine for a single second that a complaint has been filed and is aimed at him. He has nothing to reproach himself for and doesn’t even know what we’re talking about.” Then, she pointed out some important points.“Regarding his private life and agenda, I have some factual observations to make. He took this little trip to Stockholm and, surprisingly, while usually these trips – when he does because it’s very rare because he has very little vacation time, he’s more in training and to play matches than to make escapades from right to left -, when he goes to Stockholm – because there are always fairly strong security conditions around him – a paparazzi and a newspaper (Aftonbladet) take out the information and photo. He was tracked, someone knew he was going to Stockholm. As luck would have it, this same newspaper published information at the end of which a complaint was filed.”
She added: “in Sweden, the secrecy of the investigation is absolute, far from what we know in France. The prosecutor’s press release says nothing. Ipso facto, it was not the justice system which leaked this information, nor the police. They have the secret deep inside their bodies. I’m not here to think. I note that this complaint was publicized in real time.” BFM TV asked her if she believes that the alleged victim leaked the information.“Presumably.” When you file such a serious complaint, publicizing it in real time, when you are facing such a world-famous personality, it raises questions. Was he framed? I don’t draw any conclusions like that, I don’t know. I ask myself questions, we can ask ourselves with regard to the timing, the way in which it was done. Especially since the Frenchman is always very careful to listen to him.
She responds to the subject of PSG
“He still has a sanitary cordon there, that excludes a lot of things. When he says: ‘I have nothing to reproach myself for’, we have a certain number of things up our sleeves. The bubble is there to protect him from the risks inherent to his notoriety. We are talking about a young man of 25 years old, he may have extraordinary maturity and mentality, but do you realize the media outburst, an outpouring totally damaging to his honor? Now we have to go play and try to refocus, he knows what he did and didn’t do. He has his honor on his side (…) He is very calm because he knows what he did not do. He follows this surge from afar even if he is somewhat protected from it. It’s definitely impactful. I repeat, he is 25 years old. An accusation of this type – even if we do not know if it is aimed at him – the media does not hesitate to say that it is aimed at him. From that moment on, it’s certainly complicated to live with even if I’m not in his head. I wish him to score as many goals as possible in the next match.”
Concerning the links of PSG in all these stories, she confided: “fake news? These are terms that he used and which belong to him. I’m just saying that there is a combination of circumstances and I understand why he had questions. On Tuesday, there was a hearing which concerns him and which comes at the right time with the revelation of this story. It’s factual, I’m not drawing any conclusions from it (…) I’m not going to go into this theory (that PSG denigrates its image, editor’s note), I’m not a fan of the conspiracy theory. What is certain is that for months he has been subjected to a campaign of denigration and damage to his image, it is undeniable. It was noted by a professional court that a certain number of players were suffering a form of harassment from the club. All this was written in a decision. The campaign against Kylian Mbappé exists. Who has an interest in tarnishing their image and their honor? I don’t know, I’m just saying that if this complaint is against him, then act. We will know in the coming days. You admit that the coincidence of dates cannot make me, the lawyer, not wonder.” The lawyer, who indicated that the player could be heard at some point, is delighted with the investigations carried out in the hotel where the player stayed, so that the light can be definitively shed.
