Real Madrid have already chosen Kylian Mbappé’s jersey number for the 2023/24 season.

The France international is expected to complete his long-awaited move to Madrid at the end of the season. Paris Saint-Germain have informed Mbappé of their intention not to activate a contract extension clause and he will leave on a free transfer in June.

Real Madrid are expected to announce the player’s arrival before the striker joins the France squad for Euro 2024. With the formalities of a deal still underway, fans are speculating what shirt number he will will receive in Madrid.

Modric stripped by Mbappé

According to the latest information from Mundo Deportivo, he will not keep the number 7 he wears at PSG, Vinicius Junior continuing to wear it with the Blancos. Mbappé should therefore take the number 10 he wears for France, while club legend Luka Modric should leave as soon as he arrives.

Modric will not sign an extension at Madrid and the Croatian will end seven seasons as the club’s number 10. The veteran midfielder is the most eye-catching name to have recently played as a 10. Previous prestigious holders of the jersey include Luis Figo, Clarence Seedorf and Ferenc Puskas.
