“ I had several discussions with him, I thought about it and I made this decision about this gathering. It’s better like this. I’m not going to argue. What I can tell you is that Kylian wanted to come. It is not the extra-sporting problems that come into play. It’s a one-off choice. It’s my decision, it’s better this way. I take responsibility for this decision. It’s my responsibility. »
It is in these terms that Didier Deschamps justified his choice not to summon Kylian Mbappé for this November gathering. The relationship between the two men would have cooled. And according to Daniel Riolo, it is not excluded that the striker refuses to return in March.
Mbappé-Deschamps, a story that turns sour
Riolo developed his remarks on RMC. “ There is only one reason. I maintain 1000% that this is the right reason: Deschamps is making him pay for what happened the previous time. Not that he didn’t come, because if he just hadn’t come by mutual agreement, it would be fine. It’s just that: ‘I’m injured, I’m not coming’ and three days later, you play, it caused Deschamps to have to say something which turned out to be something bogus and so that made him look like a moron. And behind that, he couldn’t let that go in terms of authority and even just in human terms. On that point, it’s a decision that I understand. So he dismissed Mbappé. »
“ I’m not sure he understands what is considered a form of punishment. So it is not excluded that Mbappé will not come next time and that the story will turn a little sour, regarding his presence in Blue and the relationship he will have with Deschamps. »
Mbappé ready to let go of the Blues?
Daniel Riolo assures that relations between the two men have deteriorated. “ Already it wasn’t at the top level… I don’t think we’re going to stop at: ‘You didn’t come, you take a hit with a ruler on the fingers, you don’t come to that one’ . We’ll see what happens in March. But until then, in my opinion, there will be stray bullets, little sentences here and there, and I think the situation could get worse. »
“ The context is absolutely not favorable to Mbappé since his performances put him under constant criticism and at Real, things are not going well at all. For the moment, he is not in a strong position. In any case, he is the captain of the Blues, since the armband has not yet been removed from him… But nothing excludes the possibility that there will be trouble and that perhaps there will be a declaration like this : “Since it’s like that, I’m not going to come back for the moment,” the journalist concluded.
