Teammate of Kylian Mbappé at PSG, Hugo Ekitike spoke on Wednesday about the French striker, mentioning in particular their relationship.

From his brief time at Paris Saint-Germain, Hugo Ekitike will not remember much positive. Although recruited for nearly thirty million euros at Stade de Reims, the striker was hardly used by Christophe Galtier and was not part of Luis Enrique’s plans when the latter succeeded Galtier on the Parisian bench. As a result, the striker only played eight starving minutes of play in the first part of the season, during a Ligue 1 match. Enough to push him to look elsewhere, with a loan from Eintracht Frankfurt this winter. Officially presented to the press this Wednesday, he notably discussed his relationship with Kylian Mbappé.

Having played the first thirteen minutes of play in his new colors on February 3 against Cologne, the young striker therefore had the opportunity to face the German media. And they quickly asked how he got on with Kylian Mbappé and if he had learned anything alongside the 2018 world champion. He gave me a lot of advice when I was in Paris. When I left, it was more messages to tell me that it was my time and for me the time to express myself and to have fun, to play football and to find a group again. »

A nice compliment

But Hugo Ekitike wanted to clarify that if he had listened attentively to the words of his former teammate, he also did what was necessary to learn by watching him. “ He gave me advice. But I also took it from myself by observing him (when he played), by observing him on a daily basis. And today, it makes me a better footballer and a better person. » A great compliment which will certainly please the person concerned.

In the meantime, the former Stade de Reims will therefore continue his journey in the Bundesliga, hoping to do as well as Randal Kolo Muani who revealed himself in the colors of Frankfurt, obtaining his ticket for the 2022 World Cup before hitting in the eye of Paris Saint-Germain. Loaned until the end of the season, Hugo Ekitike has a good chance of staying in Germany if he regains his level. Eintracht will then not hesitate to exercise the purchase option present on its contract.
