Hit in the ankle on Wednesday evening against Brest, Kylian Mbappé remained in treatment this Thursday. No risks will be taken on Saturday against Lille, to preserve the Bondynois for the reception of Real Sociedad on Wednesday.

There had to be one. As before every Champions League poster in February, or almost, Paris Saint-Germain finds itself embroiled in a bad soap opera, that of the injury of one of its stars. This time, it’s Kylian Mbappé that it falls on.

Let’s say it right away: it could have been worse. Not because the Bondynois is not an important player (it’s quite the opposite, obviously), but because the images of the Parisian striker’s ankle sent shivers down one’s spine, following the tackle which earned Brestois Lilian Brassier a red card and a torrent of insults on social networks.

Mbappé resting against Lille?

Finally, Mbappé was able to finish the match on Wednesday evening and the news about his cold ankle is not so bad. The 2018 world champion remained in care this Thursday morning, while a cleaning session was planned. According to RMC, he will undergo additional examinations by Friday evening to refine the diagnosis of his injury.

There is, however, a real possibility that Mbappé misses the clash against Lille this weekend in Ligue 1. PSG has enough of a lead in the league to afford to rest its star striker, if the need arises. No risks will be taken, indicates RMC, while the Parisian staff “wants to be optimistic but very cautious”. The most important, of course, is this Champions League round of 16 first leg against Real Sociedad next Wednesday.
