Real Madrid will not escape a huge financial outlay if they secure the free transfer of Kylian Mbappé in 2024.

The France team captain is expected to confirm his plans in the coming weeks as he approaches the final stages of his lease with Paris Saint-Germain. Real Madrid have remained confident over the past 12 months, with Mbappé as their number 1 offensive target, despite his famous change of heart in 2022.

The Bondynois has always hinted at his intentions, but combined reports from Le Parisien and ESPN claim he made his decision in Madrid. The former AS Monaco striker can join Real Madrid on a free transfer this summer, but his contract will represent a significant expense for Los Blancos.

Advantages for Mbappé

According to the Daily Mail, Kylian Mbappé will take a pay cut to join his potential new team, with Real Madrid offering him a €100 million signing bonus in return. He will also be allowed to retain 60% of his image rights, above the 50% limit set by the club, as part of a wider contract offer.

However, the structure of the deal will allow Real Madrid to maintain their current salary structure, with the Frenchman earning less than the €25 million per year he receives at PSG.
