Mbappé, salary confirmed

By realizing his dream of signing for Real Madrid, Kylian Mbappé will benefit from a much lower salary than at PSG, where he pocketed no less than 72 million euros gross per year.

Real Madrid players have never been so confident in years, this is the echo from the locker room that offers The Athleticthe American-born media outlet, which looks back at Kylian Mbappé’s XXL arrival at the Casa Blanca. After having refused the Merengues’ advances several times since his debut at AS Monaco, the prodigy from Bondy, now aged 25, has finally realised his childhood dream by joining the residents of the Santiago Bernabéu stadium. His idol Cristiano Ronaldo made football history there (notably in the Champions League).

Mbappé has agreed to a “financial effort” since his contract with Real is much less lucrative than the one he signed in May 2022 with PSG, at 72 million euros gross over the year, or 33 million euros net, not counting mind-boggling bonuses (signing bonus then loyalty bonuses). In the Spanish capital, the captain of the French team will receive an annual salary of 20 million euros gross. Indeed, the player’s relatives (his mother Fayza Lamari mainly) have agreed with president Florentino Pérez on a salary of 15 million euros net, as confirmed by The Athletic.

The jackpot for Kylian Mbappé

While Kylian Mbappé is not the highest paid player in La Liga (since Frenkie De Jong and Robert Lewandowski, at Barça, will pocket 18 and 16 million euros this season), he is the one who will earn the most money between his salary, his signing bonus which would amount to 100 million euros and his image rights. Here again, the player’s entourage negotiated well, receiving 80% of the amount earned in image rights by the Madrid number 9, which is much more than the usual 50% for the club’s players. This could represent up to 15 million euros extra per year.

Mbappé is, by far, the highest paid player in Carlo Ancelotti’s squad. Jude Bellingham and Vinicius are reportedly on €10 million net and David Alaba on almost €11 million. Eduardo Camavinga and Aurélien Tchouaméni are on €6 million a year, while Ferland Mendy, Real Madrid’s other French international, is on €5 million.
