Manchester United fans are eagerly anticipating what changes await them in Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s first transfer window.

There are hopes that the new co-owner will implement a more ruthless approach to deadwood members of the squad, as well as put an abrupt end to the decade-long pattern of overpaying for below-par players. If only he was here to stop the Antony transaction, eh?

Nevertheless, numerous Reds face uncertain futures at Old Trafford, and despite putting pen to paper on a five-year contract extension last July, Marcus Rashford is one of them.

Nobody would’ve predicted this time last year when the forward was in the midst of what would end up being a career-best campaign, he would find himself linked with a United exit again this time around, but here we are.

The 2022/2023 term saw Rashford notch 30 goals in total for the first time while contributing 10 assists, yet now, as United gear up for their final five fixtures of the season, he has eight goals and five assists in all competitions.

Rashford urged to bid United farewell

Ally McCoist weighed in on the situation on talkSPORT, telling the panel how he believes it’s time for the England international to embark on a new venture away from his boyhood club, whom he joined at the age of seven.

“Looking at Marcus Rashford, I honestly believe it’s in the best interest of all parties that he goes and gets a fresh challenge somewhere else,” the pundit began.

“I think he needs it, and I think the Manchester United fans are beginning to run out of patience with him and a few others in the side. I look at his body language and he just doesn’t look happy.”
