Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo will not have the chance to face each other one last time on a football field.

For football romantics, the news must be hard to take. As they saw themselves competing for the 38e and last time in their careers, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi had to give up on a reunion. Blame it on bad luck.

Messi and Ronaldo, missed meeting!

Cristiano Ronaldo will not be able to play the friendly match between Inter Miami and Al Nassr, scheduled for 1er next February. He has just contracted an injury which will keep him away from the field for a week. It will therefore be too short for this meeting. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner will also miss his Saudi team’s tour of China.

The last time Messi and CR7 faced each other was exactly a year ago (January 19, 2023) during the friendly duel between the Riyadh selection and PSG. They then both scored. And the last opposition in a competitive match dates back to December 8, 2020 in the Champions League during a Barça – Juventus.

Note that the Saudi and American championships are currently at a standstill. The two GOATs therefore benefit from regenerating and regaining strength in view of a year 2024 which promises to be busy, notably with the holding of the Euro and the Copa America.
