Author of a new double scored under the jersey of Inter Miami, Lionel Messi has taken the lead among the best directors in MLS.

Lionel Messi’s second season in the North American League (MLS) started better than the first. At least in terms of statistics. The Argentine star leads the Championship scorers with 9 goals (in 7 matches), ahead of Christian Arango (Real Salt Lake) and Christian Benteke (DC United), both on eight goals, after a new double scored on Saturday evening (Sunday morning in France) on the New England lawn.

On the pitch at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough (Massachusetts) and in front of 65,000 spectators, Lionel Messi and the Florida franchise won 4-1. The 2022 world champion and eight-time Ballon d’Or scored in the 32nd and 67th minutes and delivered an assist to Uruguayan Luis Suarez for the last goal of the match (88th). Inter Miami leads the MLS Eastern Conference with 21 points, three ahead of FC Cincinnati who have a game in hand.
