Messi, disaster!

All of Argentina dreams of seeing Lionel Messi lead the Olympic team at the Paris 2024 Olympics next summer, but Inter Miami does not seem to want to release the Ballon d’Or record holder.

It’s quite a cold spell that Tata Martino has set in… The Argentine coach of Inter Miami has not announced the non-participation of Lionel Messi in the football tournament of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games (from July 24 to August 10, in seven stadiums in France). But Albiceleste supporters no longer dream of seeing “La Pulga” at the Copa América then at the Olympics this summer…

Almost two weeks after the qualification of the Argentinian U23s led by Javier Mascherano, after a snatched victory against Brazil (a double title holder of the Olympic tournament who will not be able to defend their medal), the trend is not good about the Ballon d’Or record holder. The former midfielder opened the door to his former teammate and friend.

Inter Miami says no

But to the question of Messi’s possible participation in the Ile-de-France Olympics (rather French regarding football), Tata Martino explained that his South American internationals had to choose between the Copa América and the Olympic Games, by prohibiting Diego Gomez, his young Paraguayan midfielder, to connect the two. Loud and clear.

Quite improbably, the 2024 Copa América is organized, from June 20 to July 14, in the United States (with the North American and Central American selections), but the MLS will continue to be played! Messi will therefore miss several matches for the Florida franchise. Inter Miami will then play the Leagues Cup, the mid-season competition between North American clubs, on the dates of the Olympics…
