Messi, it’s over

While Lionel Messi will remain adidas’ star ambassador for perhaps decades to come, the German brand has chosen its new headliner: Jude Bellingham. The 21-year-old England international moved into another world by shining with Real Madrid last year before leading (as best he could) the Three Lions to Euro 2024 in Germany. “La Pulga” is at the end of his career and is playing for a club in the United States, Inter Miami, so it was necessary to choose a new star playing on the Old Continent.

On July 26, adidas launched a new collection, called “Bellingham Originals”. A magnificent range including a tracksuit, a football kit and a t-shirt, all in white with blue piping, an adidas Originals logo and a “JB” logo in red, as if to recall the colors of its national team. The Casa Blanca supporters will also wear the jersey or jacket as desired.

Pogba like Messi

Bellingham is the only other active footballer to have his own adidas collection alongside Messi. And contrary to popular belief, the three-stripe brand rarely showcases a single player. You have to go back to a collection around Paul Pogba, branded “PP”, after his arrival in 2016 at Manchester United (another adidas club), to find a player with his own range alongside Leo Messi.

Among the many players equipped by adidas, Rafael Leao, Son Heung-Min, Gabriel Jesus or Nicolo Fagioli are highlighted at the start of the season (at least on the website). The German brand has also unveiled the third jerseys of five major European clubs by bringing together football legends: Zinedine Zidane for Real Madrid, Bastian Schweinsteiger for Bayern Rio Ferdinand for Manchester United, Patrick Vieira for Arsenal, and Alessandro Del Piero for Juventus.
