Lionel Messi had a happy week, scoring two hat-tricks, first for Argentina and then for Inter Miami.

Lionel Messi continues to shake the opposing nets. Saturday evening, the Inter Miami striker scored a hat-trick against New England Revolution (6-2), the last match of the regular season of the North American Championship for the Florida franchise (United States). Messi, who entered the field shortly before the hour mark (58th), scored his goals in the 78th, 81st and 89th minutes.
The captain of the 2022 world champions finishes the MLS regular season with 20 goals scored in 19 games. Goals were still in question a little earlier in the week. Lionel Messi had already delighted in the Argentinian jersey with a hat-trick, signed against Bolivia (6-0) during a qualifying match for the 2026 World Cup.
Place in the playoffs
“La Pulga” will return to the Albiceleste in November, for the rest of the playoffs, while the playoffs will open in MLS. Inter Miami, the best team in the Championship with 74 points at the end of the regular season, will face the winner of the Eastern Conference play-off, between CF Montreal and Atlanta United (October 23).
