This Friday, November 29, FC Barcelona celebrates its 125th anniversary. Founded in 1899, the Catalan club marks this anniversary with a special tribute, that of one of the greatest players in its history, perhaps the greatest: Lionel Messi. Now an Inter Miami player, the Argentinian addressed strong words to his former team during his appearance on the channel TV3.
“Congratulations on 125 years. I am so proud to have been part of the club and to be an FC Barcelona fan. I was lucky that God brought me here and made me spend my whole life at this wonderful club. It’s a special club, different from all the others. (…) The fact that today the first team is represented as we want and as we like it is a great source of pride”he confided.
An unwavering attachment to Barcelona
Visibly full of nostalgia, Messi also spoke of his attachment to the city of Barcelona. However, he called on the Blaugrana to continue their progress.
“I miss the club, the city, the people a lot. As always, I hope we continue to do well and can continue to make this club even bigger”added the man with 672 goals and 303 assists in 778 matches in the Barça jersey.
