Messi, the big scare

Scorer against Nashville (2-2), Lionel Messi made people fear the worst after receiving a big sole on the ankle at the very end of the match.

Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez took on the role of saviors on Thursday during the 8e first leg of the Concacaf Champions League final played by Inter Miami against Nashville. Because if the Florida franchise snatched a draw after being led 2-0, it owes it to its two star attackers, both scorers. And that was necessary to restore a situation that was, to say the least, compromised.

Nashville actually led 2-0, after opening the scoring through Jacob Shaffelburg after just four minutes of play. And the Canadian striker did it again after returning from the locker room, delivering another supersonic strike under the bar. Inter Miami was on the brink of collapse but was able to count on the strength of former Barça players.

A large sole on the calf

Sergio Busquets first served Luis Suarez who found Lionel Messi on the edge of the area, the Argentine sending in an unstoppable curling shot shortly after their hosts’ second goal. The Floridians found some color but finally had to wait until the end of added time (90+5) to equalize thanks this time to Luis Suarez’s header.

Inter Mimai could breathe easy, especially since they suffered two big scares at the end of the match. The first time when Lionel Messi remained on the ground, dried by a big sole from Lukas MacNaughton on the left calf, the former Parisian finally managing to finish the match, then when Shaq Moore shook the Florida nets, but the American defender’s goal was finally canceled for a (very) slight offside. The two teams now meet next Thursday for the return match in Miami.
