The intense rivalry between Drew McIntyre and CM Punk is finally set to culminate at WWE SummerSlam this week in a one-on-one showdown with Seth Rollins acting as the Special Guest Referee.
In the build-up to one of the most highly anticipated matches of the summer, Drew McIntyre recently posted a photo with Punk’s old rival from AEW, Jack Perry, earlier this week, only to quickly delete it.
On the July 29 edition of Monday Night RAW, as Drew McIntyre made his way to the ring to confront CM Punk as part of the Seth Rollins Referee Instructions segment, RAW commentator Michael Cole made a subtle mention of McIntyre’s photo with Perry during the live broadcast.
“Drew McIntyre was stirring up things this week … bringing up things from CM Punk’s past.”
The segment was highly intense, with Seth Rollins making clear the one rule that would prevail over their match at SummerSlam. It came to a close as Drew McIntyre revealed Punk’s beloved bracelet bearing the name of his wife and dog, who held back his punches knowing the consequences for the same, with the fans more eager than ever to see these two heated foes collide at the Biggest Party of the Summer.
