Michael Owen has been asked about Anthony Gordon, Newcastle United and Liverpool.

I have to say that I find it difficult to disagree with anything our old mate has come out with on this occasion.

Michael Owen saying that Anthony Gordon has got the kind of quality that Liverpool should be trying to sign.

However, at the same time he very much doubts the ‘credibility’ of those in the media who are claiming Gordon will be signed by Liverpool this summer.

Michael Owen stating that there is no way Eddie Howe and Newcastle United will want to get rid of one of their best and most exciting players.

The former Liverpool and Newcastle United player said that unless finances forced an Anthony Gordon sale, but as we all know, that PSR issue was up to the end of June 2024 and to solve the PSR shortfall for those last three seasons’ accounting period, Newcastle sold squad players Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh.

Michael Owen talking about the media claims of Anthony Gordon to be signed by Liverpool this summer – As quoted by DAZN News – 7 August 2024:

“There is no doubt Anthony Gordon is a talented boy.

“I can’t imagine, unless Newcastle are suffering with the money side of things… then I can’t imagine they will want to get rid of one of their most exciting young players.

“He has done really well at Newcastle since he has been there.

“So I’m sure Eddie Howe is desperate to keep him.

“I’m not sure how credible that story (Anthony Gordon to move to Liverpool in this transfer window) can be.

“But that is the type of player, if somebody like that came available, then of course that is the type of player Liverpool should be interested in.”
