Michelle Obama took the United Center stage on Night 2 of the Democratic National Convention and delivered a speech that fired up the delegates and the nation.

The former First Lady of the United States appeared on stage supporting Kamala Harris and Tim Walz for President and Vice President in the upcoming elections.

Obama took jabs at Donald Trump, saying, “For years, Donald Trump did everything in his power to try to make people fear us. His limited and narrow view of the world made him feel threatened by the existence of two hardworking, highly educated, successful people who also happened to be Black.”

She continued, “By the way — Who’s going to tell him that the job he’s currently seeking might just be one of those ‘Black jobs?’”

Obama also uplifted Americans and highlighted the spirit of what hard work means.

“[Kamala] understands that most of us will never be afforded the grace of failing forward… we will never benefit from the affirmative action of generational wealth,” she said. “If we bankrupt a business… or choke in a crisis, we don’t get a second, third, or fourth chance. If things don’t go our way, we don’t have the luxury of whining or cheating others to get further ahead… we don’t get to change the rules so we always win.”

She continued, “If we see a mountain in front of us, we don’t expect there to be an escalator waiting to take us to the top. No, we put our heads down. We get to work. In America, we do something.”

Obama’s speech energized Democrats, who took to social media to share their reactions. Some notable figures who shared their thoughts online included Andy Cohen, Angel Reese, and Lynda Carter.

“We’ve seen that movie before. We all know that the sequel is usually worse.”

Vote Kamala and avoid the Troll 2 of presidencies.

Watching Michelle Obama give a speech really is like watching a prodigal athlete who just up and decided they weren’t interested in participating in a commercialized sport. #DemConvention2024
