Mick Foley knows just how legendary his Hell in a Cell war with The Undertaker was—but could it be the first match inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame?
Speaking to Sporting Talk, Foley was asked whether the infamous King of the Ring 1998 match—where he was thrown off the top of the Cell and chokeslammed through it—would be the first bout to receive WWE’s highest honor.
“I don’t know if it’ll be the first one in, but I think it’ll be a part of the first crew. I would like to think so at least. I think that Cell match is the only match in wrestling history that people celebrate the anniversary of. They remember where they were and they like to relive it.”
The match has already cemented itself in wrestling history, with fans continuing to revisit the jaw-dropping carnage year after year. If WWE ever opens the Hall of Fame to legendary matches, there’s little doubt this one will be at the top of the list.
Should WWE start inducting matches into the Hall of Fame, and if so, does Hell in a Cell 1998 deserve to be first? Please share your thoughts and feedback in the comment section below.
