Mike Tyson is looking to the bright side after losing his fight against Jake Paul. On Friday night (November 15), the 58-year-old boxing legend faced off against the 27-year-old former YouTuber in a live fight that was streamed by Netflix. After eight rounds, the win went to Jake. However, Mike does not consider himself a loser. He reflected on the outcome in a revealing statement and told fans that he was near death earlier this year. No regrets to get in ring one last time,” Mike said in a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter). He continued, revealing, “I almost died in June. Had 8 blood transfusions. Lost half my blood and 25lbs in hospital and had to fight to get healthy to fight so I won.” If you were unaware, Mike and Jake‘s fight was postponed in late May after the boxer suffered a medical emergency during a flight. He took some time off before resuming training in July. The specifics of the emergency were never revealed, but this is seemingly what he was referencing. Mike concluded his statement, writing, “To have my children see me stand toe to toe and finish 8 rounds with a talented fighter half my age in front of a packed Dallas Cowboy stadium is an experience that no man has the right to ask for.
